Make Retro … A Free Photo Filter Service
A four-second makeover with MakeRetro.
MakeRetro.com (click here for a link) is a free online photo filter service that will give your image a retro look (within certain defined parameters). The result is a 72 dpi file, so consider it if you need a vintage look for the web (or if you have a good resizing program to up the resolution). I tried it … it’s fast, it works, and it’s a quick effect when you may be pressed for time.
You already may have some actions or your own technique in Photoshop for producing a vintage/retro look. This site probably won’t replace that one. But if you don’t have an action (or don’t even have Photoshop) or just are in a hurry, you may find this site of some value. And it really is free! You can apply one of four vintage looks with several variations to your image and then save the result if you like the way it looks. If not, just try again or forget the whole thing. It’s that fast and that easy.
The image above was created in about four seconds using MakeRetro in the Lomo mode with 20% vignette. If I ever needed a stylized image I might come back and give my image the four-second makeover. It’s fun to take a look at this site and with your images. Give it a try!
