Bloomington Photography Club: Grunwald Gallery Reception 2012

A 2012 Monroe County Fair entry.

Last call and warning: tonight from 6-8PM in the Grunwald Gallery (formerly SoFA) at the Fine Arts building on the IU campus is the Bloomington Photography Club’s opening reception for its biggest annual exhibition. DO NOT pass up the opportunity to view 94 outstanding images from club members. All genres of photography are represented – very well represented. Food will be furnished by club members, and beverages (including the adult variety) will be available for purchase at a nominal cost from the gallery itself. This really is a fine exhibition, folks. If you live anywhere close to Bloomington (or happen to be visiting our fair city) be sure to drop by. You will not be disappointed; I promise.

Saturday marks the kick-off of Monroe County’s 2012 County Fair. I got an early glimpse of some of the images submitted in the Photography Division (overseen by my good friend and most-talented photographer, Nola Donley). There are some very fine images to be seen by friends and neighbors of yours (including yours truly). While enjoying the sights, sounds, smells and fair food all week be sure to stop by the Community Building and enjoy this 2012 show.

Finally, have you heard the rumors swirling around that the 2012 Summer Olympics begins tonight? I had the privilege of meeting Bill Pekala, Nikon’s North American Ops Chief, recently out in California (the Bodie Ghost Town workshop with Bill Fortney and Jim Begley). He is a great guy to hang around with (how many of Bill Fortney’s friends aren’t?), and a very fine photographer. He currently is over in London with Nikon, and he is posting pretty much daily on what is going on photo-wise. There are some interesting glimpses of what goes on behind-the-scenes and what Nikon does for an event this huge and news-worthy. Click here to visit (and bookmark) Bill’s site.
