Tim Ellis Cars

I have posted many times about my good friend Richard Small and his skill in shooting vehicles of all kinds. Richard regularly is published in car magazines, doing all his own writing in addition to taking the photos. During his recent stay with us here in Bloomington he was kind enough to provide Sue and me with an impromptu shooting lesson, photographing a couple of Tim Ellis’ old vehicles (thank you, Tim!). Now, the light was terrible – midday with a clear blue sky and hot sun directly overhead. There was no shade to get into or chance to drive to a better location. I tell you that not to elicit sympathy, for we all sometimes are faced with exactly those conditions and not a whole lot of time in which to shoot. The results I obtained were not bad given those conditions, and they were not bad because of Richard’s coaching. He knows and loves cars. It shows in his passion and the results he gets.
